Voting is progressing smoothly and peacefully across many polling stations in the Volta Region.
VoltaOnline monitoring indicates orderly queues with voters taking turns to cast their ballots.
In the Ho municipal area, polling stations visited before midday showed a seamless voting process. Over 90,000 voters are expected to cast their votes across 254 polling stations.
Eligible voters formed long queues as early as 4:30 am, demonstrating their eagerness to participate in the electoral process.
Some polling stations visited include GPRTU Office Ho Bankoe 2, where 745 eligible voters are registered, with 108 casting their votes by 9:07 am.
At Power College 1 Polling Station, 414 voters are registered, with 79 casting their votes by 9:30 am. Dora Memorial School 1B has 597 registered voters, with 173 casting their votes by 10:32 am.
Interestingly, some polling stations had no queues at the time of reporting. The peaceful atmosphere is not unique to Ho, as other parts of the region, including Ho West, Hohoe, and Kpando, are also experiencing a smooth and calm process.
The polls, which started at 7:00 am, will close at 5:00 pm. However, polling stations with voters in queue at the closing time will still allow those voters to cast their ballots.
