The government has announced a temporary closure of Ghana’s land borders ahead of the December 7 elections.
The Ministry of the Interior, in a press statement, said the move is part of heightened security measures aimed at maintaining a peaceful and orderly election process.
The closure will remain in effect until 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024, the sector Minister, Henry Quartey said in the statement, adding that all land borders will be sealed off to both citizens and travelers, with State Security Agencies enforcing the directive.
The statement, however, called on all citizens and travelers to cooperate fully with the security agencies tasked with enforcing the border closure.
