Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was the special guest at the centenary anniversary celebration of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Atiavi over the weekend.
She was accompanied by the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, and other government and party functionaries, representing President John Dramani Mahama.
She congratulated the church on its milestone achievement and conveyed the President’s warmest regards to the church.

She praised the church for its commitment to spiritual and social progress, saying “the church has been a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to many, and its contributions to education, healthcare, and social welfare are invaluable.”
Most Rev. Edoe Kumordji, SVD, Bishop of the Keta-Akatsi Diocese, in his address, emphasized the importance of honouring the past while building a future rooted in peace, unity, and service to humanity.
He said the church had come a long way since its establishment 100 years ago and had played a significant role in shaping the lives of individuals and communities.

The ceremony was characterised by prayers, cultural displays, and heartfelt moments, reinforcing the church’s mission to promote faith and service.
The celebration was packed with members of the congregation, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries, who came to celebrate the milestone achievement.
