The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Volta Region commenced on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, with a total of 29,888 candidates from both public and private schools expected to participate.
The examination being conducted across 115 designated centers throughout the region, involving 1,202 schools, comprising 902 public and 300 private institutions.
In the Ho Municipality, 3,359 candidates from 110 schools, including 76 public and 34 private institutions, are sitting for the exams.

The examination covers 11 subjects, with each candidate writing an average of nine, including seven core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Ghanaian Language, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, and Creative Arts and Design and Career Technology. Two papers will be administered daily, one in the morning at 9 a.m. and another in the afternoon at 1 p.m.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that all logistical and administrative arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and incident-free examination process.
Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of the GES, Forgive Agoha, urged candidates to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the exams.

In a show of support for the candidates, the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Richmond Edem Kpotosu, recently distributed mathematical sets to all 3,359 candidates in the Ho Municipality, ensuring they are well-equipped for the exams. Mr. Kpotosu has also extended his best wishes to the candidates and advised them to stay focused, disciplined, and determined.
Hon. Kpotosu further announced a special reward package for outstanding performance, where the first 20 candidates in the constituency who obtain an aggregate score of 9 will receive a comprehensive set of educational materials to support their continued academic pursuits at the senior high school level.
