The Ho branch of the Ghana Co-operative Fashion Designers Association (GCFDA) last Friday embarked on a tour of Kad Manufacturing Ltd, a garment production company in Accra to learn industry practices.
On the trip were 33 apprentices (learners) accompanied by the association executives. They visited various departments to learn about the operations of clothing manufacturing company. The learners were exposed to different production machines and observed the division of labour in the sewing department.
The HR representative of the company, Paa Owusu, who conducted the learners round the factory, said  the company primarily focuses on exports and deals directly with international firms, while their sister company, CADLING handles local production.
The factory manager, Mr. Mea took the delegation through the production process, and disclosed that, it takes them 16 minutes produce a polo shirt at the factory, with a total output of 3000 shirts produced in 8 hours. He emphasized the importance of speed and precision in their work, and encouraged the learners to inculcate such positive work attitudes.
On their part, the Association leaders – Mr. John Saho, President and Wilson Amos Agblemor, Vice-President expressed gratitude to the officials of the company for the opportunity and excessed the hope that such an experience would inspire their learners to a desire to make a positive impact in the fashion industry.
