Harris Foundation Offers Support to IT Entrepreneurs in Ho

An America-based non-governmental organization (NGO), Harris Foundation has indicated its commitment to support young entrepreneurs across the country.

This came to light during a seminar it held on Friday June 30, 2018 in the Volta Regional capital, Ho to orient young people on the myriad business opportunities in Information Technology (IT), and to encourage more people to invest in the IT business.

The seminar among other things, sought to market the business opportunities the organization has to offer in the arena of IT in order to attract prospective investors and entrepreneurs.

The event being the first of its kind to be held by the organization Ho drew a number of students and businessmen and women from the municipality.

The organization which has been in operation in Ghana for about 10 years has ran seminars in Sogakope, Accra, and Sunyani thus far, and seeks to subsequently reach out to other parts of the country.

Speaker for the event and Business development and Public Relations Manager for Harris Foundation Ghana, Mr. Laud Fiati in his lecture, exposed participants on the areas prospective businessmen can invest in.

According to him, the areas available comprise, e-commerce, online advertisement and other business technologies like Uber.

He disclosed that the NGO has designed a number of applications in this regard including, Hotel management app, SMS app, ad management app, Hospital record keeping app, and Real estate app.

All that an individual needs to do, is to purchase the application and assume management of the app and he or she will begin to realize the financial rewards. He thus, encouraged participants, to seize these opportunities as they are worth billions of cedis.

He also noted that aside the investment opportunities Harris Foundation seeks to offer, it is also committed to training young people in different programming languages like PHP, Python and Java, networking and software development.

To this end, the NGO organizes boot camps through which it equips participants with requisite skills to enable them take advantage of opportunities in the IT market.

He also stressed that all seminars and boot camps are free however, any participant who wishes to take advanced courses or specialize in any field of IT, would have to foot half of his tuition fee, while the organization bears the rest of the cost.
