#PrezToursVolta: Akufo-Addo Inspects Agro-Processing Factory at Adaklu

President Akufo-Addo has begun his 2-day working visit of the Volta region with an inspection tour of an Agro production and processing factory at Adaklu Tsrefe near Ho on Monday.

The facility situated on a 520 acre land, is under the HGL Volta Trigger 1 project, a private initiative by HGL company, an indigenious Ghanaian social enterprise.
Accompanied by the Volta Regional minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa and other top government functionaries, the president was conducted round the facility which comprises, a multi grain processing plant and silos for processing and storage of grains.

It also the comes with an outgrower scheme and demonstration farms, where rice is currently being cultivated and processed for the market.

Chief Executive of HGL company, Mr.Senyo Hosi briefing the presidential entourage said the project started in September 2017, through its out-grower network would provide sustainable livelihood for thousands of citizens, with deliebrate policy to recruit, train and retain women in the largely male dominated field.

300 out-growers currently cultivating a minimum of 20 acres each of paddy rice, which processed with the 4 metric tonne per hour rice mill, Mr. Hosi stated.

He noted that, the firm was driven by the social impact of drawing more citizens into the productiom function of the economy by stimulating employment for less skilled persons in a sustainable manner.

According to him, HGL was focused on the development of of agricultural, agro-processing and agritourism prospects in Ghana by leveraging on green technology.

Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng, Minister for Trades and Industry in a remark said the project fits perfectly into the government’s One-district-One factory, policy and commended the initiators highly.

He pledged the support of the ministry towards the full operationalization of the facility, which was already providing job to indigenes.

A deputy minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Sagri Bambangi on his part entreated the managers to work closely with the department of Agriculture to ensure the cultivation of high quality grains.
Also on the tour were, ministers for Energy, Information, Local government and a host of MMDCEs.
