Nana Owusu Kwame Philip II, Regent of Keri in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Volta Region has expressed gratitude to Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Geoffrey Kini for his tireless efforts in ensuring remote communities have strong telecommunications coverage.

The Regent showed his appreciation when the MP in partnership with MTN has provided a telecommunications mast to enhance telephony services in Keri, a remote community in the municipality.

According to him, provision of the mast would end the difficulty in making calls in Keri and its surrounding communities.

“We are very grateful to the MP for helping us get network coverage in our area, the era of walking away from our homes to make calls is now over. We can sit in our homes, bedrooms and make calls at any given time.”

He expressed optimism that the initiative would positively impact on the livelihood of residents.

Speaking at a commissioning ceremony, the MP disclosed that a strong collaboration with MTN led to the provision of stronger network coverage to over 40 communities in Nkwanta South, “which would contribute to socio-economic growth in the affected areas by creating job opportunities.”

He mentioned that provision of the mast was in fulfillment of his promise to ensure his constituency achieves universal mobile telephone service coverage which would save residents from walking long distances just to access mobile network.

He therefore advised the youth in the area to make “proper use of the hi-speed internet connection to add value to their lives.”

An opinion leader, Mr. Gesaloge Albert seized the opportunity to appeal to the MP to assist the community complete an abandoned two-unit classroom block which is at the roofing stage, and also construct bungalows for staff of the Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound in the community.
