How Players from Volta Performed over the Week

It was an exciting week for Volta players. Player performances have been incredibly high over the weekend with new feat being chalked by few of them. As a Writer/Spots Journalist from the region, I seek to follow, monitor and expose their exploits to the world. This week, our featured players are Bright Hadzor, Prosper Atsu Avor and Prosper Dayegbe Ahiabu.

Bright Hadzor is a goalkeeper currently with Division One Side Wa Suntaa Soccer Club in Wa. The short stopper has caved a name for himself after an impressive debut season with the Division One campaigners. He is on loan from Akosombo Krystal Palace and managed to keep clean sheets in all games that he kept the post. He currently runs at 6 matches with 6 clean sheets and so far, the best consecutive run of a goalkeeper from the region this season.

Prosper Atsu Avor is a home grown name who dominated the Ghana Premier League headlines while with Kpando Heart of Lions. The right back started his playing career with Kpando Togorme Super Rangers before joining Kpando Hearts of Lions. The stalwart defender moved to Liberty Professionals to enjoy more premier league actions after Lions got relegated from the premier league. Avor has been an integral part of Liberty’s campaign this season featuring in all matches.

Prosper Dayegbe Ahiabu is a holding midfielder for Sogakofe-based West Africa Football Academy (WAFA). The box to box midfielder was brought in to fill the shoes of Gideon Waja who departed the club and it appears that decision has really fetched marks. Prosper missed just one match for the Academy Boys this season due to accumulated yellow cards. His midfield dominance rewarded him a call up to the national U20 team who played a 0-0 drawn game with Algeria over the weekend of which he was a starter in that game. He is a talent to watch out for.

Prosper Atsu Avor

Former Dreams FC Midfielder Manuel Eli Keke is doing very well in Europe as he continues to enjoy full action for Olafsvik in their 1-1 away drawn game at Kopavogur.

Let me introduce you to another shoot stopper in the ongoing National Division One League. Bright Hadzo who currently plays for Wa Suntaa Sporting Club. He hails from Sokpoe and commands an enviable record among the regional keepers. He featured and lasted 90 minutes in their 0-0 away game to Paga Crocodiles FC. The clean sheet means he is yet to concede in 6 matches he played for his team. 6 games 6 clean sheets.

Prosper Dayegbe Ahiabu

Left winger Julius Anani aka Messi stared for Proud United in their goal sprinkling over Achiken FC. The midfielder provided 3 assist in the game ensuring the victory was emphatic. Asare Saviour who was introduced on the 50th minutes, played a holding midfield role and also assisted the 5th goal for proud united. Both Former Ho Hunters FC players are enjoying their game in Zone One.

Not a palatable story for the contingents that started for Kpando Heart of Lions in their 1-0 away lost to Accra Young Wise FC. Goalkeeper Gabriel Nudakpa, Musah Amevor, Charles Quarcoo, Abednego Sarfo, Eric Esso and Charles Quarcoo all started for Kpando Hearts of Lions at the Zaytuna Park in Kasoa. Gordon Akaminko made a cameo appearance on the 70th minutes. Meanwhile, young graduate Samuel Agbenyega is yet to kick leather for Lions. Dickson Sakabutu was not part of the match day squad as he serves a 4 match suspension after receiving a red card in their last away game against Great Olympics.

Julius Brempong Ankamah was part of Accra Young Wise FC squad that stuck Kpando Heart of Lions 1-0. The attacking winger played full duration of that game. It now appears he has regained full fitness for his club.

Daniel Aklamanu kept the post for Nania FC in their 0-0 drawn game with Great Olympics at the Zaytuna Park on Saturday. The former Kpeve Lake United keeper has been so impressive this season. There was no action for striker Perry Teh Agbo as he continues his recovery process.

Jacob Esso was named in the starting line-up for Sporting Mirren and lasted the entire duration in their 1-0 away lost to Tema Youth at Tema. The midfield enforcer has 1 goal to his credit this season. Meanwhile, Festus Nutakor watched the game from the bench for Mirren.

Uncle T continues their good run in the league with a 2-0 away win over Okyeman Planers. There was no action for Uncle T Striker Wisdom Attamah as he focuses on his tertiary exams.

Massawudu Inusah was in the post and played full interval as Danbort FC inflicted a painful 1-0 win over Akosombo Krystal Palace FC. Massawudu was a former player of Kwamekrom De Youngsters FC.

Sensational Striker Richard Dzikoe started the game for Kotoku Royals, lasted the entire duration and scored a goal to give Kotoku Royals a 1-0 win over Vision FC. This brings his goal tally to 7. Attacking winger Stephen Kofi Nargy lasted 90 minutes and continued his fine form for Kotoku Royals. Selorm Klutse made a cameo appearance and lasted 20 minutes of the game.

Ghana (Premier league)

Asiwome Joy Fumador was not with the travelling Berekum Chelsea squad that drew 1-1 with Elmina Sharks in their outstanding premier league fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Prosper Dayegbe Ahiabu of WAFA was named in the starting line-up and helped the national U20 team attain a first leg 0-0 drawn game against Algeria in qualifying to the Africa Youth championship. Prosper is a midfielder and a regular element in WAFA’s play this season.

Prosper Atsu Avor former right back of kpando Hearts of Lions was in his usual role as his team Liberty Professionals lost 3-2 narrowly to Aduana Stars. Prosper played all league matches this season.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Mawuli Osei’s future with the Porcupine Warriors is still uncertain as various media outlets suggest the player has failed to impress Kotoko after his signature was acquired.

There was no action for James Akaminko (Ash Gold), Joseph Esso (Accra Hearts OF Oak), and Ivan Kpeglo (Inter Allies) as the Premier league took a week’s break for outstanding matches to be cleared.
