In a stunning turn of events, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reclaimed the Hohoe parliamentary seat, which was snatched by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) John Peter Amewu, in the 2020 elections.
Mr. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo of the NDC emerged victorious, securing 31,163 votes, while Mr. Amewu trailed behind with 14,971 votes, a margin of over 16,000 votes.
The victory completes the NDC’s sweep of the Volta Region, with the party now holding all 18 parliamentary seats. The Hohoe seat was the consolation for NPP in the region, and Mr. Amewu’s loss is a notable setback for the party.
Despite efforts by the Railway Development Minister, John Peter Amewu, to retain the Hohoe seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a second time, leveraging his infrastructural developments in the constituency, the voters ultimately opted for change.
In the presidential race, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 36,739 votes, while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP secured 8,526 votes.
