Residents of Adaklu-Kodzobi are mourning the tragic loss of a young man following severe flooding caused by last Saturday’s torrential rains.
The downpour which submerged roads, homes, and businesses in the Ho municipality and its environs, left widespread destruction in its wake.
According information gathered by VoltaOnline, the victim, a 25-year-old man popularly known as Yevu, was swept away by the strong currents while attempting to cross an over-flooded bridge into the Kodzobi community.
Reposts suggest that, despite warnings from bystanders and motorists who had halted their journeys due to the rising waters, the victim proceeded and was carried downstream. His body was later recovered and deposited at the morgue.
The flooding also disrupted movement across the municipality, with Sokode-Gborgame experiencing hours-long delays as an over-flooded bridge along the dual carriageway left motorists stranded. Businesses, including the popular Malisanat Hotel & Bar, suffered significant water intrusion.
The situation has renewed calls from worried residents for urgent intervention from authorities, citing poor drainage systems and inadequate infrastructure as key contributors to the recurring flooding that continues to endanger lives and livelihoods.
