Vote NPP to Restore Glory of the Volta Region – Nana to Hohoe Residents

0

BY: KDT | Voltaonlinegh.com |

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has acknowledged that the Volta Region is one of the most endowed regions in the country, yet the people they have trusted to transform the region has failed them woefully.

According to him, despite voting massively for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the inception of the fourth republic, the region has seen little development.

He said, it is now time to restore the lost glory of the region by voting massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which has shown more commitment to developing and transforming the region.

The change he noted must start in Hohoe, which is at the crossroads of making history to elect the first ever NPP parliamentary candidate John Peter Amewu to prove that a vote for the NPP is a vote for development.

President Nana Addo made the call in Hohoe during the campaign launch of the Hohoe NPP and the parliamentary candidate John Peter Amewu

He said the NDC has taken the Volta Region for granted and “I am sure that all of you have seen that today, the umbrella (NDC) has got nothing but holes in it…When it rains and you put it up, the water will be upon you because it’s no longer working as an umbrella.”

He observed that since the fourth republic, Volta Region has seen zero progress under the umbrella (NDC) party, however, the NPP in the last three and half years has proved that it has the blueprint for the development of Ghana, something that the people of Hohoe can testify.

He said, Mr. Amewu is an excellent candidate for parliament and one of the most outstanding Ministers in his government who “was very good as the minister for lands and natural resources and a brilliant minister of energy. The man who has kept the lights on in our country, the man who is saving us a lot of money, renegotiating with the IPPs of our country.”

“Even without being an MP, you have seen the work that he has been doing in Hohoe. Add MP to the Minister, and you will see the rapid transformation of Hohoe,” the president appealed.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated although prior to the 2016, he had no record of being President; he is now in a position to give account of his stewardship after promises made.

“The question that you have to ask yourself, have I remained faithful to you? Have I stood by my commitments to you? And if I have stood by my commitments, if I have remained faithful to you, then you can look upon me as a man of integrity, a man who keeps his words, a man who fulfills his promises to the people.”

He therefore, appealed to residents of Hohoe and the entire Volta Region to continue to trust him, for the next four years is going to be even better than the four years that Ghana has gone through.

Some Kete Weavers at Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality of Volta Region have appealed to government and other stakeholders to help curb the canker of middlemen in the Agbozume Kete market.

According to them, this urgent request is to eradicate the cheating meted by middlemen in the Agbozume Kete Market.

Mr. Edem Joshua Galley, a Weaver at the Agbozume, explained that Kete weaving has since been a source of their livelihood and a profession for many people of Agbozume for many years.

He said, the trade which had helped a lot of people in the area to even attain higher education is no longer lucrative and attractive due to cheating and other financial challenges.

Mr. Galley stated that, the number of weavers in the business now as compared to some year ago is on the increase which makes the weaving business a-hand-to-mouth one in the area.

He further revealed that the act of these middlemen in the market has worsened the weaving profession in a way that many weavers are running the business at loss these days.

He also calls on Ministry of Trade and Industry to intervene in their affairs adding that their intervention can help boost the kete industry in Agbozume, Ghana and beyond.

He said authorities should assist by putting in proper measures to bring some sanity in their operation in the market so as to sustain their  livelihood.

Prof. Margaret Kweku

BY: KALD I Voltaonlinegh.com |

Professor Margaret Kweku, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Hohoe has downplayed the chances of her main opponent from the governing  NPP, John-Peter Amewu in the upcoming December 7 elections.

She said, assertions that the Energy Minister would pull a surprise in the parliamentary polls and win the seat for the NPP, was nothing but mere assumptions.

Speaking on Citi TV’s #PointofView show  Monday night and monitored by Volta Online, the former Hohoe MCE said her contender would not get more than 12,000 votes at polls, despite his aggressive use of government resources to swayed voters.

“Amewu got 8,200 votes in 2008 and he will get 12,000 this time, that is if  I  want to be kind  him,” she asserted.

Prof. Kweku further stated that, ongoing projects in the area which were being credited to the Minister, were assembly projects that he has forcibly appropriated to himself just to gain political advantage in the Constituency.

That notwithstanding, she noted, the NDC had a superior performance track record in the area under her tenure as MCE and that of the current MP, for which the constituents reward the party, come December 7.

This is Mr. Amewu’s third attempt at annexing the Hohoe seat from the NDC, which has Prof.  Margaret Kweku as its new candidate.

BY: Akpabli Daniel Yao | Voltaonlinegh.com |

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Baaba Dsane Selby, has applauded the Nana Addo led government for the progress made in the health sector and more particularly, the National health Insurance Scheme adding that, the cash and carry days were devastating.

“When I was a Doctor in the cash and carry days, I almost gave up medicine because it was devastating to me for children to die in my hands everyday when I knew what to do but I didn’t have the resources” She narrated.

Addressing the Volta NPP Nurses and Midwives in Ho, Dr Selby noted that,  the effort made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administrations in the National Health insurance scheme programme has made Ghana the envy of the world as she noted that, the module of the scheme has now been taught in the Harvard University for other countries to learn.

She said, the government is poised to equip and staff the sector and the scheme to make it more accessible  as well as the kind of service to be provided, more quality.

Dr. Selby  stated that, data is very crucial to be able to begin and provide the needed healthcare to citizens but the Ghana and NHIS card answer such problems adding that,  Ghanaians can now link their NHIS card to the Ghana card making it possible to access health care with any of these two cards

She said the NHIS has currently 23.2 million unique identified members in the authority’s database which is the biggest database in the country currently.

She added that, these numbers need not to come to the NHIS offices for their renewal anymore due to the mobile renewal initiative which made it possible for them to sit in the comfort of their homes and renew their cards.

She further revealed that, the NHIA have also created a link with the Ministry of Gender so that persons on the Ghana National House whole registry including LEAP Beneficiaries, persons living with disabilities (PWD’s) etc will be renewed automatically so as to enjoy services continuously.

she  said other diseases which are not under the policies shall be included in the benefit package and user fees at a point of service will be eliminated.

As we celebrate the success story of the health insurance, she therefore called on all Ghanaian to also remember those who walked out of parliament when this crucial and important law was passed to care for them and come out in their numbers to vote in order to sustain the progress of the policy

History would be made in the Hohoe Constituency come the December 7 elections, Mr. Kenwud Nuworsu, a former Volta Regional Chairman of the  NPP has announced.

Speaking at a campaign rally of John-Peter Amewu, the Energy Minister and NPP Parliamentary candidate for Hohoe on Saturday, the veteran politician said he was optimistic the enthusiasm which has greeted Mr. Amewu’s candidature as result of the massive development he is spearheading in the area, would translate into victory  for him and the NPP at polls.

According to Mr. Nuworsu, the era where people are voted into parliament only for them to draw salaries and allowances, and later turn around to claim they were not development agents are over, because ‘the  time has come to send highly connected people like Amewu to parliament to lobby for projects.’

The campaign held at the St. Augustine School Park, was graced by President Akufo-Addo and other stalwarts of the NPP, including former General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, who said the government has fulfilled its promises to Ghanaians for which it deserves four more years to deliver  even greater development.

“Everywhere we have been, the President has delivered on his mandate, whether it is infrastructure, whether it is schools, roads, water and what have you. On the 7th of December, Ghanaians around the country are going to deliver a resounding endorsement to his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and my brother John Peter Amewu, and I am sure next for years will see greater development” Mr. Agyepong declared.

This is Mr. Amewu’s third attempt at annexing the Hohoe seat from the NDC, which is being represented by a new candidate, Professor Margaret Kweku, a former MCE for Hohoe in the December polls.
