Anfoega & Vakpo SHSs Benefit from Mechanised Boreholes; As North Dayi Welcomes New Educational Projects

Students and staff of Anfoega Senior High School and Vakpo Senior High School have received a major boost to their learning environment with the commissioning of two mechanised boreholes.

Each facility has a 10,000-litre capacity and is powered by both the national electricity grid and solar energy, ensuring uninterrupted access to safe drinking water. The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, officially handed over the boreholes to the management of the two schools under Phase II of the Water for All Project.

The commissioning formed part of a working visit to the North Dayi District, where Hon. Gunu, together with the Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh Quarshie, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Adevor, cut sod for six major educational infrastructure projects.

These include an 18-unit classroom block and a two-storey boys’ dormitory at Vakpo Senior High Technical School, a two-storey girls’ dormitory at Anfoega Senior High School, and three-unit classroom blocks at Avevi-Denui D/A JHS, Tsrukpe Zanukofe D/A JHS, and Bofoku Bradafornu D/A JHS.

In his remarks, the Regional Minister reiterated government’s commitment to expanding quality educational infrastructure across the Volta Region. He assured stakeholders that funding for all projects had been secured before commencement and emphasized that competent contractors and strict supervision would ensure timely completion, thereby preventing abandoned projects.

Beyond infrastructure, Hon. Gunu also encouraged sports development by donating two footballs and a set of jerseys each to Anfoega SHS, Vakpo SHS, and Vakpo SHTS, urging students to actively participate in extracurricular activities as part of holistic education.
