Friends of the Nation, a Non Govermantal Organization in association with USAID has donated some items to fishermen in Adzido, one of the fishing communities in the Keta Municipality.
Items including 10 pieces of plastic chairs, Nose-masks, Fishing Handouts and a crystal award plaque were given as support and compliment to efforts of fisher-folks in the area.
The gesture follows USAID’s assessment of fishermen in the various coastal communities
They said, Fishermen in Adzido were selected to have maintained their shores neatly and also followed the Covid-19 protocols among all fish landing beaches in the Municipality.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of USAID who doubles as Volunteer for “Friends of the Nation” Mr. Johnson Kwesi, urged the fishermen to continue ensuring that all Covid-19 protocols are strictly adhered to.
He added that measures will be put in place to train some fishermen from the community as volunteers under USAID so as to help maintain clean fish landing sites in the Municipality.
Mr. George Akakpo, Chief Fisherman for the area, expressed gratitude to USAID for the donations and urged them to also organize workshop for the fishermen in the community.
He further assured the donors that, they will do everything possible to remain first in regards to neatness on fish landing beaches in the Municipality.
