Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been declared winner of the December 7, 2020 Presidential elections, paving way for his second term as the President of the Republic of Ghana.

The NPP candidate secured a total of 6,730,413 votes, representing 51.59 per cent to his beat closest contender John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, who polled a total of 6,214,889 votes, in Monday’s presidential polls.

Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and the Returning Officer for the 2020 Presidential Elections announcing the results of the polls on Wednesday evening, said the total vote cast of 13,434,574, representing 79 percent voter turnout, was without the votes of Techiman South Constituency.

She however explained that the 515,524-vote margin between NPP and NDC candidates could not be overturned by results from Techiman South, which was under dispute.

Watch the EC Declaration

Prior to the announcement, supporters of the opposition NDC earlier massed u at the precincts of the EC Head office in Accra to protest what they claimed was the manipulation of results in favour of the incumbent and demand the declaration of their candidate John Mahama as winner of the elections. They were however put in check by the heavy security guarding the premises.
