Failed Parliamentary Aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the South Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor has congratulated his only contender and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Kobla Mensah Woyome for winning Saturday, August 24 primaries of the party.
Mr. Lukutor who issued the congratulatory message moments after declaration of results, took his loss in good faith saying, “ultimately, just one person can emerge victorious in a contest.”
“In our case, Hon. Kobla Mensah Woyome has been elected once again. I wish to congratulate him on this victory. It has been a good fight and everything was peaceful.”
The Chairman, Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS)-Volta Region thanked all delegates and members of his campaign team for their support and disclosed his readiness to help in any way possible for the return of the party to power in the next general elections.
“I still remain a loyal member of the party and I look forward to a working collaboration to bring the NDC back to power in 2020.”
In the Ketu South Constituency, the former Constituency Youth Organiser and Secretary, Foga Nukunu who came second in the primaries congratulated the winner, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie as well as the other three contenders for a good fight.
Mr. Nukunu in his message said “I also thank my team members for their voluntarism and pure sacrifice.
The keenly contested Parliamentary primaries of the NDC had 62 aspirants across the 18 constituencies of the Volta Region with incumbent MPs from the three coastal constituencies of Anlo, Keta and Ketu South and another from Hohoe Constituency bowing out of the race.
The rest of the fourteen incumbent MPs retained their candidature with massive votes in the contest.
