Some 258 youth from all districts in the Volta Region have graduated in a Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship Programme organised by the National Youth Authority (NYA) in Ho.
The participants were each presented with 258 specially designed tablets intended to help them start their businesses with virtual offices for the purpose of cutting down the unemployment rate in the country.
The Programme, unveiled in February, this year, aims to equip beneficiaries with relevant technology-driven entrepreneurial skills that could be applied on the internet, especially social media, for marketing of products and services.
A trainee, Felix Focus Fianu, on behalf of his other colleagues thanked President Nana Akuffo and his government, and the Authority for the initiative and called on his colleagues to make use of the skills acquired which including Social Marketing, Web Design, Proposal Writing among others to benefit them.
The Regional Director of NYA, in his welcome address enumerated that 300 youth were initially recruited for the training but could not complete the programme.
Other speakers at the ceremony challenged the participants to approach entrepreneurship with a good mindset, endeavor to start businesses and not sleep on the newly acquired skills.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa who is also an entrepreneur, advised the trainees not to despise humble beginnings but rather start something no matter how small and stay committed to growing it.
He assured of his readiness to offer advice and other forms of support to help them develop their businesses.
Meanwhile, Mr Emmanuel Asigri, the Chief Executive Officer of NYA, expressed joy that the youth availed themselves for the training and described participants from the region as best behaved.
He urged them not to relax after the training but to challenge themselves to use the skills and the tablets for the intended purpose to profit them and the country.
The graduation ceremony was chaired by the Volta Regional Manager of NBSSI, Mr Nyaku. Others in attendance included Deputy CEO of NYA, Regional Director of NYA, DCE for South Dayi, officials from TGNE Solution and NYA staff across the region.
