The Paramount Chief of Kpassa Traditional Area, in the Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region, Ubor Konja Tassan VI, has levied residents in the area, Ghc5  each to finance the construction of a health facility.

The project estimated to cost Ghc 4 million, is a self help initiative  to save lives in the district, which is without a district hospital.

Residents of the area travel to neighbouring districts in the Volta and Northern Regions to access healthcare.

According to Obrempong Ba K. Owusu of Nkwanta based Beyond FM,  Ubor Konja Tassan disclosed that the project which is estimated to cost about 4 million Ghana cedis would also cover the construction of  medical quarters for a resident doctor posted to the district.

According to the Paramount Chief, it is nerve-wreckling to know that Nkwanta North attained a district status over decades but does not have a hospital for which thousands of residents travel long distances to Nkwanta South, Bimbila and other districts to seek medical care.

He added that several appeals have been made to successive governments but yielded no result.

Ubor Konja therefore appealed to the government to support the traditional area to construct a befitting district health facility to enhance healthcare delivery to residents in the district.

The Assemblyman for Kpassa West Electoral Area, Mr Tadin Noah and some residents had already made their contributions as a demonstration of their support towards the construction of the hospital.
