It was a thrilling week for Volta players in the Elite Division in Ghana. Player transfer was visible with some making their debut. As a Writer/Sports Journalist from the region, I seek to follow, monitor and expose their exploits to the world. This week, our featured players are Richard Senanu, Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah and Solomon Okudzeto.
Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah is a midfielder who operates mainly through the wings. The budding talent was in high demand last season after an explosive campaign with Kpando Hearts of Lions. Dreams FC confirmed his capture from Heart of Lions after lengthy negotiations. The 21-year-old is believed to have concluded a three-year deal for a transfer fee around GHc150,000. His performance in the Ghana premier league earned him several ‘man of the match’ awards.
Richard Senanu is a midfielder who currently plays for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. He made the move from Uncle T Fc in the second transfer window and had featured for the porcupine warriors immediately. Known for his ability to effectively marshal the defensive and offensive role gives him an added advantage over other squad members. Richard hails from Aflao and had previously played for Aflao Diamond Babies, Ketu United and Kpando Hearts of Lions all in the region. He is a very discipline player, hardly talks or socialize and a former student of three Town Senior High school, Denu. He was the former captain of Uncle T Fc.
He featured in the midweek fixtures for his new side in an astonishing fashion and lasted the entire duration of the game. Kotoko won the game 2-0 against Elmina Sharks. Kumasi Asante Kotoko young striker Mawuli Osei’s future with the porcupine warriors is still uncertain as various media outlets suggests the player has failed to impress Kotoko after his signature was acquired.
Solomon Okudzeto is a striker who currently plays for Ebusua Dwarfs, known for his artistry and vision in front of goal makes him a foe to may opposing defense. His famous display against Bechem United in their 1-1 draw in week 5 Of the Premier league earned him the Nasco Most Valuable Player of the match. For many, he is a talent that may soon end Ghana’s search for a potent striker. He has featured for Dwarfs in 12 matches this season with 3 goals.
Prosper Dayegbe Ahiabu of WAFA was named in the starting lineup for West Africa Football Academy as they record a 0-0 drawn game with the Phobians at the Baba Yara stadium. Prosper who currently returned from the national U20 camp lasted the entire duration of the game.
Prosper Atsu Avor starred for Liberty Professionals in their 2-1 win away to Bechem United. The right back has featured in all premier league matches for Liberty this season and yet to score a goal. The right back enforcer joined Liberty from Kpando Hearts of Lions.
Prosper Gbeku was started for home team Wa All Stars as they lost to Inter Allies 1-0.
Solomon Gyesi Okudzeto was names in the starting 11 for Ebusua Dwarfs and lasted the entire 90 minutes. There was Justus Torsutsey in the lineup but started from the bench in Dwarfs 2-0 win over Ash Gold.
James Akaminko and Roland Amouzou Hermann Kossivi were however in action for the loosing team Ashanti Gold. He started the game and lasted full duration in their defeat to Dwarfs.
Goalkeeper Richard Attah kept the post for Elmina Shark in their 2-0 lost to Kumasi Asante Kotoko. He lasted full 90 minutes.
Wahab Ahadzi was in full flight for Berekum Chelsea in their 2-1 win at home against Medeama Sporting Club. Wahab played 90 minutes. Meanwhile Asiwome Joy Fumador was not with the 18 man Berekum Chelsea squad.
Joseph Esso was named in a strong Accra Hearts OF Oak staring line up against WAFA at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. He lasted 90 minutes of the game. Bakai Bless Selase however was on the bench and watch as Hearts drew parity.
Ivan Kpeglo started from the bench for Inter Allies as they beat former league champions Wa all Stars 1-0 at the Wa Park.
