The Afetornyornufia of Ho-Bankoe in the Asogli State, Mama Bobi III, has donated computers to schools and a youth-focused NGO in Ho to boost ICT education and bridge the digital divide among learners.
The initiative follows her participation in a United Nations conference in March last year, where she engaged with distinguished Ghanaians and secured 200 computers — 150 Lenovo ThinkPads and 50 desktops. She described the gesture as “a covenant of hope for our children.”
Mama Bobi III personally supervised the distribution of part of the consignment to Sonrise Senior High, Kabore Primary, Bankoe R.C. Primary (Mixed and Girls’ sections), Bankoe E.P. Primary, and LifeMac Africa, a youth-oriented NGO renowned for its STEM programmes. In total, over 70 Lenovo ThinkPads were handed over to the beneficiaries.
In a post on her Facebook page, she expressed heartfelt joy at the impact of the donation:
“My heart swelled with humility and deep fulfillment as I watched the faces of our little ones light up—not just with the joy of receiving, but with the promise of a future they can now dare to dream of. Each screen we placed before them is a window to possibility, a bridge across the digital divide that has held our communities back for too long.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to the welfare of children and youth in Ho-Bankoe and beyond, stressing that their education remains the true legacy of the community. “Their education is our legacy. Their success is our crown,” she declared.
The donation is expected to significantly enhance ICT teaching and learning in the beneficiary schools while strengthening LifeMac Africa’s youth-focused initiatives.
