Ho West MP Hands-over Two Ambulances; Opens Medical Outreach

The Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has presented two fully equipped ambulances to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) during the launch of a five-day free medical outreach programme at the Awudome-Tsito Health Centre.

The outreach, organised in partnership with KEB Health Foundation, Ho West District Assembly, and Ghana Medical Relief, has brought together over 170 volunteer medical specialists from the United States and Canada to provide free healthcare services to more than 15,000 residents of Ho West and neighbouring communities.

Hon. Bedzrah, in his address, expressed gratitude to the volunteer medical team and partner organisations for supporting the initiative. He stressed that the ambulances will strengthen emergency healthcare delivery in the district, ensuring timely response to emergencies and saving lives.

Receiving the vehicles, NAS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, assured that the ambulances would be deployed immediately with trained Emergency Medical Technicians and maintained to the highest operational standards. He described the donation as a timely intervention that will improve response times and access to critical care for residents of Ho West and beyond.

Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, who joined the MP to officially open the outreach, commended Hon. Bedzrah for his visionary leadership and commitment to improving healthcare delivery. He lauded the volunteer medical specialists for dedicating their time and expertise, noting that the initiative aligns with government’s vision of expanding access to quality healthcare through the Free Primary Healthcare policy and the Mahama Cares Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

The five-day outreach, which runs from 27th to 31st July 2026, is offering free services in general medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, dentistry, surgery, physiotherapy, pharmacy, and public health education.

Other officials present at the ceremony included the District Chief Executive for Ho West, Hon. Prosper Francis Dusey; Volta Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Emmanuel Atsu; NAS Volta Regional Administrator, PAEMT Bright Kingsley Manu; traditional and religious leaders.
