The Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) has officially welcomed 586 newly admitted students into its academic community during a colorful matriculation ceremony held at the university’s Knowledge City Campus in Kokomlemle, Accra.

The ceremony, presided over by AIT President, Professor Clement K. Dzidonu, marked the formal induction of students into programs spanning Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety Management, Project Management, and doctoral studies.

In his address, Professor Dzidonu congratulated the matriculants and introduced them to the concept of “The Age of the Sovereign Learner.” He emphasized the importance of independent thinking, continuous learning, innovation, and responsible leadership in shaping graduates who can thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Speaking on the theme “Preparing the Sovereign Learner for a World of Opportunity, Possibility and Difference,” the President urged students to adopt the Opportunity–Possibility–Difference (OPD) Perspective, positioning themselves as innovators and problem-solvers ready to contribute to national and global development.

Delivering the acceptance speech on behalf of the matriculants, Mr. Samuel Peace Kamara expressed gratitude to the university’s leadership and pledged that students would uphold AIT’s values, work diligently, and contribute meaningfully to society.

AIT, ranked as Ghana’s top private university by the Ghana Tertiary Awards, continues to distinguish itself as a technology-focused institution committed to academic excellence and research. The university has received international recognition, including awards from Global Business Insight of the United Kingdom as the Best Technology University in Ghana.

Accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, AIT runs both campus-based and Open University programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with affiliations to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Open University of Malaysia.
