President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned a food processing factory at Adonkwanta in the Krachi East Municipality, as he takes his nationwide tour to the Oti Region on Thursday.

The CH Global Limted Food Processing factory, a wholly owned Ghanaian company, has become the first industry  under the government’s One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) initiative to commence operations in the Oti Region.

The factory processes yam and cassava into chips and balls as well as animal feed. Currently, it has the capacity to process over 800 tubers of yam per day, and 700 tons of per year, raw material, which are heavily produced in the Oti enclave.

According to officials of the company, the factory  currently offers direct employment to 52 persons and 200 casual workers. This, is expected to increase when the factory scale up operations.

Officials added that, the factory source its raw material from farmer associations in the region, while they plan to cultivate 100 acres of yam and cassava to argument supplies from the locals.

Some residents who spoke Volta Online expressed delight at the opening of the factory, which they noted would provide ready market for their farm produce, to improve their livelihoods.

The President as part of the tour is expected to interact with traditional leaders, inspect ongoing infrastructural and road projects in the region.

Accompanying him are government functionaries including, Agric Minister, Dr  Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe, Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Dapaah, Deputy  Minister for Trades and Industry, Mr. Hebert Krapah  and a host of others.
