Residents of Bontibor, a community in the Nkwanta South municipality of the Oti region will soon heave a sigh of relief from their telecommunication woes, as work begins on a rural telephony project in the area.
The area is one of several rural communities in Nkwanta South without access to any mobile network services to enable them reach family and friends in times of emergency.
However, through the instrumentality of the Member of Parliament (MP), for Nkwanta South, Hon. Geoffrey  Kini, telecom giant, MTN Ghana has moved in, to erect a mast in order to extend network connectivity to Bontibor and its environs.
Breaking grounds for the project, the MP reiterated his resolve to address the challenges facing his constituents, as plans are far advanced to extend the project to the remaining communities within the Constituency without Telecommunication Network, so as to facilitate socio-economic development in the Municipality.
Other areas that have previously benefited from the MP’s interventions were, Ofosu, Tutukpene, Kecheibi and Keri.
On their part, the Chiefs and people of Bontibor heaped praises on the MP for coming to address their age-long problem, which has cut off the community and its environs from the rest of the world.
Also present at the ceremony, were NDC Constituency Executives for the area, including, the Chairman Mr. Prosper Akamani.
