As part of the provisions made towards this season’s Christmas festivities, the Queen-mother of Dzodze Apetepe in the Ketu North Municipality, Mama Agbaledzokpui II, has celebrated with the aged, Persons with Disability (PWD’s) and the less privileged in the Municipal capital, Dzodze.

This year’s event which is the 5th edition since the establishment of the Mama Agbaledzokpui II foundations and celebrated on the theme “TIME WITH THE AGED AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED” brought together Chiefs and people from towns in the Ketu North Municipality and beyond .

Items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis were donated through the Mama Agbaledzokpui II Foundation as part of her annual donations targeted at the less privilege in the Dzodze communities.

Speaking at the event, Mama Agbaledzokpui II noted that the rational behind the establishment of the foundation is the desire to assist the youth especially the girl child to stay in school until they have reached the stage where they are capable of determining their own path to a sustainable future.

She mentioned that, the foundation is exploring issues of child trafficking in the Ketu North municipality in order to highlight the plight of the victims and also continue to do work in skills training projects (soap, beads making etc) for women.

She said, she was happy about the public response before and during this year’s event and expressed gratitude to donors who have made it possible.”I also want to thank  those who have donated to the foundation over the years”

She further appealed to well-wishers to support the foundation to meet set objectives and also in the subsequent annual celebrations in the coming years.

A Health Officer, Madam Justine Quist who was booked to take the attendees through issues relating to health, charged the youth to take good care of their aging relatives and help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.

She further advised them to maintain a healthy lifestyle by consuming meals that contains all the necessary food nutrients and also encouraged the gathering to regularly exercise to keep the muscles and bones healthy.

Despite the challenges the novel Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the economy, the Aged and Physically Challenged were refreshed after which they were presented with bags of food items to take home.
