A 35-year-old woman, identified as Selina Kuma Kle, tragically lost her life on the evening of Thursday, May, 22, 2025 after being struck by lightning during a rainstorm at Ho SDA Down.
Reports indicate that Selina, a known kenkey seller at Sokode station, had gone to stake lottery at a kiosk when the deadly bolt struck. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, reigniting fears and superstitions surrounding lightning occurrences.

The tragedy has sparked conversations among residents, with some attributing the incident to spiritual forces, while others are calling for better public education on lightning safety.
This incident comes on the back of a similar one that occured on May 30, 2022, when a young coconut seller was struck dead under a mango tree opposite the ECG office. His body remained at the scene for hours until traditional rituals were conducted before removal.
