Government is set to engage stakeholders in the Volta region on economy at its 5th Townhall meeting in Ho.
The event slated for today, Friday 4th March at Freedom Hotel at 1:00pm, would see government functionaries led by the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta interact with residents on the administration’s management of the economy, while soliciting public support toward the proposed Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy).
The e-levy since its introduction in the 2022 Budget statement has divided opinions, with Members of Parliament on both sides taking entrenched position on its passage.
This has compelled the government through the Ministry of Information to hold Townhall meetings accross the country to sensitise citizens on the Levy and its benefit to the economy, which has been hardly hit the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also speaking at Ho edition of the Townhall meeting will be Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Railway Development Minister, John Peter-Amewu, the CEO of Bui Power Authority, Samuel Kofi Ahiave Dzamesi, and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide.
Before now, four Townhall meetings have been held in the Western, Eastern, Northern, and Upper West regional capitals.
