Ghana Water Company Limited has served notice to the general public that December 31st ends the government directive of free water to Ghanaians as part of measures to curb the rapid spread of Covid 19 pandemic.
In a press statement signed by Stanley Martey, the Chief Manager in charge of Public Relations and Communications, stated that payment of water bills will be the responsibility of customers from January 01 2021.
it further assured the general public that, personnel from the company including all meter readers and front line staff shall adhere to all safety protocols before accessing the premises of customers to read the meters.
The Statement further direct all landlords/landladies to revert to the arrangements with tenants prior to the free Water policy and urge all water vendors to resume normal business after the last meter reading in December.
They however direct all customers who were disconnected earlier to as a matter of urgency pay all outstanding arrears to be reconnected.
