According to the Nkwanta South chairperson for Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwife Association (G.R.N.M.A), Etornam Abbah, apart from the previous packages except for the income tax incentive, Frontline health workers who have been working in the area have not received the President’s 50% bonus.

He noted that, the situation is forcing many health staff to withdraw their services from the various isolation centers.

Mr. Abbah bemoaned that with fear and panic, family and friends always reject these Frontline health workers since they are working at the isolation centers with the fear that, they may contract the virus from them.

“They, however, continue to sacrifice their lives and respond to the pandemic, hence the need for government to pay the allowances and other incentives due them” He lamented

He further noted with concern that some staff who were on duty and contracted the virus, have also been denied their package.

He therefore appealed to government to, as a matter of urgency, pay them their allowances as well as bonuses.

However, some Frontline health workers who spoke off camera also called on government to pay them their 50% bonus to motivate them offer their best.

The President of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in April 5, 2020, announced that all Frontline health workers in the country would receive a 50% allowance on their basic salaries for four months.
