A group known as Oti Women for NPP based in the Oti Region has donated an undisclosed amount of money to two female parliamentary aspirants contesting in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.

The donation, according to the founder of the group, Millicent Carboo known as Kiki, was to encourage women into taking leadership roles in society.

Madam Carboo advised the female parliamentary aspirants to be confident adding that they should not allow the men to intimidate them.

“It is time we as women supported each other to occupy top positions in the country,” she said.

Oti Region NPP Women Organizer, Olivia Yawah Aglago disclosed that she could be said to be the luckiest women organizer, having two brave women contesting this year’s primaries.

Madam Aglago emphasised the need for men in society to allow women to go unopposed each time they contested any leadership role.

The benefactors, Sherifa Sekyere Tijani and Obaapa Evelyn Yaa Denteh Amankwa, aspiring parliamentary candidates for Nkwanta South Constituency and Krachi Nchumuru Constituency respectively, thanked the group for the kind gesture and promised to emerge victorious on the day.

The NPP has scheduled the party’s primaries in orphan constituency (constituency without a sitting NPP Parliamentarian) across the country to take place on September 28, 2019.
