In the quest to keep Volleyball players active ahead of the 2nd edition of the Volta Regional Volleyball League, the RC School court in Battor on Sunday, March 24 hosted 4 Clubs in a Special Volleyball gala.
The one-day event in the North Tongu District capital which saw the ball flying for bragging rights and pride of Volta was the first mini gala to be played after the regional gala in February which was used to select players for the region.
With Battor Spikers being host, 3 other clubs including Ho Warriors, Mepe Spikers and guests, El-Wak Wings battled for the growth of the sport in the region without laurels or prizes.
Mepe Ladies started the day with a 2-0 victory against Ho Warriors, while Battor Spikers suffered a 0-2 beating by El-Wak Wings.
Ho Warriors lost 0-2 to Mepe after which Battor also lost 0-2 to El-Wak Wings. It was cagey, but Battor had their first win, a 2-1 results against Ho Warriors, but guests El-Wak Wings continued to show their supremacy by beating Mepe, 2-0.
In attendance at the gala were former Coach of Ghana Volleyball and University of Ghana teams and now El-Wak Wings Coach, Justice Adzasu and Ghana Volleyball Association Treasurer, Edem Dotsi, who doubles as Team Manager of El-Wak Wings.
Also present were chairmen of the various clubs including Cosmos Agodza for Battor and David Kwaku Selorm Dartey of Ho Warriors.
