Stanbic Bank Boosts Ho Teaching Hospital’s Medical Tourism Dream

The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) has received a major boost towards its medical tourism hub agenda, with a generous donation from Stanbic Bank Ghana.

The Bank on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 provided office equipment valued at GHC120,000 to set up the Hospital’s new Medical Tourism Coordinating Office. The donation includes a 4-in-1 workstation, six swivel chairs, two air conditioners, a metal cabinet, two printers, two desktop computers, and a laptop — all essential tools to give the office a strong start.

The Coordinating Office is designed as a one-stop-shop, blending high-quality healthcare with seamless travel logistics. Its mission is to ensure that clients not only receive safe and affordable treatment but also experience Ghana’s renowned hospitality and culture.

Presenting the items, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Brand and Marketing at Stanbic Bank, described the initiative as more than just a donation.

“Healthcare is not just a service, it is a foundation for growth,” he said. “Ho Teaching Hospital is already a pillar in this region. With this new centre, it has the potential to attract medical tourists, expand access to care, and raise the standard of healthcare delivery. Better infrastructure leads to better service. And better service leads to better outcomes for the people who matter most — the patients.”

Mr. Afadzinu emphasized that the gesture was part of Stanbic’s long-term commitment to supporting institutions that uplift lives and strengthen communities. “Your commitment inspires us, and we’re proud to walk this path with you,” he told the Hospital staff.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. George Tetteh, Director of Administration at HTH, expressed heartfelt appreciation.

“This support brings us closer to our vision of becoming the medical tourism destination in the sub-region,” he said, calling on other partners to rally behind the Hospital’s ambition.

Mr. Tetteh revealed that the Medical Tourism Office would soon introduce a music therapy studio to enrich its wellness tourism offerings.

The team later toured the Hospital’s Meditation Garden, where the new Coordinating Office is located — a serene space symbolizing the fusion of healing and hospitality.
