The National Identification Authority (NIA) has opened a premium service center in Ho, to bring its services closer to residents of the Volta region and beyond.
The service center, which becomes operational on Monday, June 12, is situated within the GIFEC building, opposite the Stadium Gate Shopping Mall on the Starlet 91 street.
This, was disclosed by the NIA Executive Secretary, Prof. Ken Attafuah during a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, last week.
A subsequent release from the NIA Corporate Affair Department said the premium center has also been established to four other regions, including Bono, Bono East, Northern and Western North region.
It stated that, the centers will provide services such as new Ghana card registration, replacement of lost/defaced card and update of personal records at a fee.
The opening of these centers come at the time some Ghanaians have been queuing at the NIA head office in Accra to acquire the Ghana card, which is the sole requirement for the nationwide SIM card re-registration exercise authorised by the Telecoms regulator, the National Communications Authority.
Meanwhile, some nine million unregistered SIM cards have been blocked. A situation, some subscribers blamed on the difficulty in acquring the Ghana card.
