The Volta Regional Handball League action returns this Saturday, May 5 at the Ho Sports Stadium with three (3) matches.
The league which had its last game on March 31 went on recess due to the vacation of the Senior High Schools.
Its resumption however, has been confirmed by the Executives, after their emergency meeting held on Friday, April 27, 2018.
Bottom side Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC) female will begin the day’s matches with Mawuko Girls SHS at 12:00noon, after which Mawuli SHS plays Ho Technical University Volta Regional Handball League (HTU) male at 1:30pm. The last match for the day will be between EPUC male and Sokode Senior High Technical (SOSTECH) at 3:00pm.
Stars of Asha and Saint Teresa’s College of Education played the league’s last match before the break, which ended in favour of the latter.
TERESCO after their 32-23 victory continues their lead on the summit of the female table with 10 points, followed by Stars of Asha with 4 points. Mawuko and Mawuli are placed 3rd and 4th with 2 points each.
The male category table also have HTU top with 4 points and closely followed by Stars of Asha and Saint Prosper’s SHS (PROSCO) who are all with 4 points. Mawuli is 4th with 2 points and EPUC is bottom with no point.
The Volta Regional Handball Association, (VRHA) is planning a one day justifier in May, to pick players to represent the region at the upcoming National Sports Festival in July.
The region before the start of their maiden league had a similar exercise which led them to win bronze in both male and female categories at last year’s event in Kumasi.
The region being the second to be having an organised league in Handball after Greater Accra, hopes to do better at this year’s festival despite their financial difficulties.
They are however, still working on landing sponsorship for the league and their participation at the National Sports Festival.
