The National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced the composition of the Vetting Committee for the selection of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
According to a directive issued by the party’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, each regional committee will comprise eight key members, including the Regional Chairman, Regional Secretary, and Regional Organizer. Others include representatives from the council of elders, former appointees, the women’s wing, the parliamentary caucus, and two Constituency Executives who are not applicants for the MMDCE position.
The vetting process, as noted in the directive, will consider factors such as proof of party membership, constitutional requirements, customary, geographical, and ethnic balance, as well as competence and experience.
The General Secretary further urged cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the success of the vetting process, which may also include participation from other regional executives as observers.
An earlier directive had tasked regional executives to receive CVs from prospective candidates and shortlist three from each Assembly for consideration by the president.
