The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. John Peter Amewu has been honoured as the Most Distinguished Minister for the year 2017 at this year’s Ghana Entrepreneurs and Corporate Executive Awards in Accra.
The awards organised by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) on Saturday night at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, recognised Mr. Amewu’s outstanding leadership in the government’s anti galamsey (illegal mining) fight.
The fight is intended to curb the activities of illegal local and foreign (mostly Chinese) miners which have caused excessive destruction of the country’s vegetation cover and water bodies.

In addition, heavy duty equipment of these illegal miners get to vandalised to deter their activities.
The Entrepreneurs and Corporate Executive Awards was to inspire and recognise the most successful and respectful entrepreneurs, business executives and corporate executives, who own or manage successful organisations in the private and public sectors.
