The Oti region has become the 12th region in the country to record confirmed cases of the corona virus pandemic.
The region recorded 13 positive cases at-a-go, according to the latest update published by the Ghana Health Service on the pandemic via its official online portal, Friday afternoon.
The update also put the country’s total case count at 1,279 with 134 recoveries and 10 deaths.
According to information gathered by Volta Online, the 13 positive cases in Oti were part of about 36 travelers, who were intercepted by security officials in the Nkwanta North district on board a cargo truck, traveling from Accra to the North of the country. They were then put under quarantine and their samples taken for testing.
The 13 persons, according to Volta Online sources, have now been moved to an isolation facilities in Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital for management, as officials commenced a rigorous tracing of their contacts.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra  region is leading the COVID-19 chart with  1089 cases, followed by Ashanti, 69 Eastern, 56, Northern & Oti ,13 cases each,  Volta ,10, Central, 9, Upper East & West, 8 each, North East, 2, as well as Western and Western North regions recording a case each.
Four other regions, namely, Savanna, Bono, Ahafo and Bono East are still keeping a clean sheet on the pandemic.
