Some supporters of the New Partriotic Party in the Nkwanta South Constituency of the Oti Region, have insentified their campaign to get the President to nominate the party’s Secretary, Felix Owusu-Gyimah as the next Municipal Chief Executive for the area.
Mr. Owusu-Gyimah was among 15 aspirants vetted at the Regional level for position and later shortlisted to Accra, for the national vetting.
But even before the President announces his choice of MMDCEs, there seem to be a ground swell of support for the candidature of the Nkwanta South NPP scribe.
At a press briefing, addressed by Desmond Keyeke, the party supporters said the Mr. Owusu-Gyimah has been a committed and dedicated officer of NPP, whose good works must be rewarded.
According to him, the NPP party is noted for rewarding dedicated, selfless, and committed service for party work, for which the Constituency Secretary has a proven track record of trustworthiness, to promote transparency and a loyalty in all spheres of party works.
They said rumours of the appointment of someone else, if tends out to be true, will be disappointing, as it will hugely discourage commitment, sacrifice, hardwork and above all loyalty among the rank and file of the party.
They further threatened to leave the party if their preferred choice – Mr. Owusu-Gyimah is not appointed by president, a move, they noted would adversely impact the NPP’s chances in the next election.
