The Akwamuhene of Anfoega Agudzi, Togbe Detsu IV, has lamented on the widespread falsehood about the coronavirus vaccine as he called on stakeholders to intensify education on the development.

He made the call at a ceremony held in Anfoega in the North Dayi district to educate and sensitize residents on coronavirus and also distribute relief items to thirty registered Persons With Disabilities PWDs under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty LEAP program.

According to him, it is alarming on the trend of unknown people moving from house to house putting fear in the residents and urging them to refuse the coronavirus vaccination.

He warned such individuals to desist from that act as they will be dealt with when caught.

He called on residents to observe the Covid-19 protocols and ignore all falsehoods about the vaccine and make themselves available to be vaccinated against the virus.

Togbe Detsu IV however commended the assembly and the various institutions for the efforts put in place to educate and enforce the covid 19 protocols in the area and calls for more intensive education on the coronavirus vaccine.

Madam Eve Passa, North Dayi district Health director , has assured residents of the safety of the vaccine and urges all to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

She explained that the coronavirus vaccine is not the first vaccine to be introduced and administered in the country as vaccines for smallpox, polio among others were used against those diseases which recorded positive results.

She further explained that the coronavirus vaccine is safe because Ghana health service will never approve of a vaccine which will kill its citizens or develop other diseases in humans.

She however advised citizens to make themselves available to be vaccinated against the coronavirus and ignore the widespread falsehood about the vaccine and also continue to observe the covid 19 protocols.

However the District Chief Executive DCE of North Dayi, Hon Kudjoh Attah, noted that the district has recorded 66 confirmed cases as at February 2021 which is alarming.

He noted that the cases confirmed are mostly among the student communities thus Anfoega Senior High, Vakpo Senior High and Vakpo Senior Technical school and outside school cases which call for cautiousness.

He admonished residents to be extra careful and observe all the covid19 safety protocols because “there is no gain in thinking there is no Covi-19 and flaunting the protocols but know that Covid-19 is real and people are suffering it’s predicament”.

He explained that there was a need to invite health experts to educate and create more awareness on the existence of Covid-19 and its implications to the residents especially the PWDs who are valuable.
