Mr. Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Atokple has emerged victorious in the Volta Region’s Council of State representative elections, polling 24 votes out of 36.
The election, which was held on Tuesday at the OLA Senior High School in Ho, saw the youth activist and entrepreneur beat 12 other contenders, including Dr. Kofi David Wuaku, Felix Larty, Gibrilla Buhari, Ing. Worlali Kwabla Ameevor, Togbuiga Adama III, Togbi Kpemini Gawu, Azi Ganyo, Havi Delali Justice, Kirchuffs Atengble, Godwin Yayra Nkuawu, Amegashie Godisgood, and Rev. Cephas Kodzo Dzidzienyo.

Mr. Atokple, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to bring his expertise and experience to bear on the Council of State, advising the President on matters of national importance.
He succeeds the immediate past representative, Mr. Francis Nyonyo, who served for two terms.
Meanwhile, the outcome of the election has been disputed by one of the contestants, Dr. Kofi David Wuaku, who described the election as “fraudulent” and a “subversion of the will of the people”.
Dr. Wuaku, a former Banking Consultant at the Bank of Ghana, alleged that the election process was compromised, but did not provide further details.
