Some aspirants for the NPP Polling station elections in the Ho Central Constituency were stranded at the party office in Ho on Monday, when they went to pick nomination forms.
This was due the closure of the party office with no constituency executive available to sell nomination forms to aspiring executives to contest the upcoming internal elections.
Some of the stranded aspirants noted the situation was a strategy by some party bigwigs to impose new executives on the constituents, which they won’t accept.
One of the aggrieved aspirants who spoke to Volta Online noted how they had not seen the forms, nor did they know the colour or what the forms look like.
Another, who came to buy 500 forms for aspirants also expressed resentment about the situation.
The angry aspirants blamed the Ho Central NPP executives for the situation and alleged that, the leadership of the NPP in the constituency does not want the current crop of polling station executives to contest the polls.
“If they do not allow people to contest, then there will be no election for Ho Central executives,” one aggrieved aspirant stated.
“Some people in the constituency want to destroy NPP, the party we have fought for… how can we break the eight with this?” another exclaimed, adding that, “We are here to let our leaders know what is happening in Ho Central.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Bright Doh, the Constituency Secretary in a media interview, explained that, the party was not issuing the nomination forms from the constituency office but rather, the election committee was moving round the various electoral areas, filing the forms for aspirants.
He thus urged the aggrieved aspirants to meet the committee members in their various areas for the form.
