The immediate past Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi was laid to rest over the weekend in the Volta regional capital, Ho.

A procession through the principal streets of the capital saw residents and church members wail as the remains of the late Moderator arrived on Thursday February 25, 2021.

Dr. Agidi was the second Moderator of the General Assembly of the church after a change from Synod status and died in October, 2020 at age 65 after a short illness at the Ho Teaching Hospital.

Mourners from far and near paid their last respect, as they filed pass the remains of the clergyman.

Dr. Agidi, has been eulogized as a peace-loving, selfless, passionate, and a man of integrity.

His widow, Mrs. Madeleine Akpene Kadji-Agidi, described her husband as a peace-loving who never hold grudges for long as he makes his displeasure known. She further noted her husband’s selflessness made him go months without salary as he ensured others get paid and love the EP Church deeply.

“My husband’s heart was his family and his blood was the EP Church, Ghana as these sacrifices, hard work and dedication God’s work and precisely, the EP church Ghana, had a devastating effect on his health” she noted.

The E.P Church on the other described him as conservative, passionate, firm, methodical, and articulate yet approachable and willing to listen.

The current Moderator of the General Assembly of the EP Church, Rev.Dr.Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko (Rtd) in a sermon, said that the death of a man of God is not the end of God’s power. Similarly, “the death of the late Moderator does not mean God has deserted the church” rather God’s power is still active.

The burial service which took place at Dela Cathedral, Ho Kpodzi under strict COVID-19 protocols, was attended by several dignitaries from all walks of life, traditional rulers, religious and political leaders.

Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister-Designate represented the President of the Republic and Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, national chairman of NDC also led a delegation from the opposition party.

The body was later interred at Ho-Kpodzi Missionary Cemetery near the church headquarters.
