The Akpini traditional area in Kpando has  installed a new Paramount chief with the stool name, Okpekpewuokpe Torgbuiga Dagadu IX.

The 36-year-old father of three, known in private life as Bernard Ablenyi-Buachi, is a journalist and a communicator by profession, who plies his trade in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

The coronation and outdooring on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the forecourt of the Togbe Dagadu’s Palace in Kpando, ends a 40-year-old chieftaincy feud in the area.

The ceremony, which attracted high profile personalities from all walks of life, saw a display of the rich culture and tradition of the Akpinis.

In his address, Togbega Dagadu IX expressed his readiness for the task ahead and urged the people to embrace peace for the needed development in the area.He pledged to dialogue with all interest groups, and mobilise all natural and human resources to improve on the livelihoods of the area.

“Let us see this day as the beginning of a new chapter in our collective life that will bring about discipline, which is the impetus of the much needed development of the Akpini Traditional Area,” he added.

Born on October 14, 1986 at Kpando, the new Paramount Chief is reporter for the Business and Financial Times Newspaper, and also doubles as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW).

He also works as a media liaison for the Kumasi Wood Cluster Association and runs a couple of online media platforms, including www.rawgist.com.

He is a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and an old boy of Bishop Herman College, Kpando.

He has previously worked for a number of Kumasi based media houses, including Ultimate FM, Luv FM, Kapital radio, etc.
