Mr. James Gunu has been sworn in as the new Volta Regional Minister, following his successful vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Jubilee House on Thursday, January 30, saw Mr. Gunu, together with seven other Regional Ministers and six sector Ministers, subscribing to the oath of office, administered by President John Dramani Mahama.

He is however expected to formally begin work at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho on Monday, February 3, 2025, where he will oversee the implementation of government policies and programmes in the region.
According to a statement issued by his Special Aide, Bright Delali Kugbeadzor, Mr. Gunu’s first day at work would begin with a meeting with staff of the VRCC to outline his vision for the region and receive briefing on ongoing programmes and activities. The meeting is aimed at familiarizing the Minister with the current state of affairs in the region, as well as to chart a new course for the development of the Volta Region.
Later in the day, the Minister would visit the Ghana Water Company treatment plant at Kpeve to acquaint himself with ongoing repair works on a broken-down shaft, which has resulted in the curtailment of water supply to the regional capital.

The visit, the statement noted would demonstrate the Minister’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of the people of the Volta Region, and to ensuring that basic amenities such as water are available to all.
