Ho, the Volta Regional capital, has been selected to host the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration in December this year on the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, made the announcement during the official launch held at the Ministry’s forecourt in Accra. He described the choice of Ho as both symbolic and strategic, citing the region’s rich agricultural heritage and its contribution to national food production.
Present at the launch was the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, who expressed the region’s readiness to host the national event and reaffirmed its role in Ghana’s agricultural advancement.

Also addressing the gathering, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, highlighted the significance of the theme. She said “Feed Ghana” calls for innovation and sustainable practices, “Eat Ghana” encourages the consumption of locally produced food, and “Secure the Future” urges protection of natural resources and investment in resilient food systems.
She commended stakeholders for their dedication to national development and food security.

The week-long celebration will feature an agricultural fair showcasing innovations in crops, livestock, mechanisation, irrigation, fisheries, and digital agriculture. Stakeholders across the agricultural value chain are expected to participate.

This marks the second time in recent years that Ho will host the national event, having previously done so in 2019 under the Akufo-Addo-led administration, with Dr. Archibald Letsa as Regional Minister. The city also recently hosted the 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize, formerly the National Teachers Awards.
