The Ho Technical University (HTU) in the Volta Region has achieved a major milestone with the appointment of its first female Associate Professors.
A public notice issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the University Council, Dr. Christopher K. Amehoe, said the University’s Council, at its 117th Regular Meeting on Friday, January 3, approved the promotion of two Senior Lecturers, Dr. Eli Ayawo Atatsi and Dr. Elizabeth Dzigbordi Obinnim, to the rank of Associate Professor.
Prof. Atatsi, from the Department of Management Sciences, HTU Business School, is currently the Dean of International Programmes and Institutional Linkages. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from the Open University of Heerlen, Netherlands, and has served in various capacities, including Head of the Departments of Applied Modern Languages and Communication, and Management Sciences.
On the other hand, Prof. Obinnim, from the Department of Fashion Design and Textile, Faculty of Art and Design, is also the current Dean of Student Affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in Fashion Education and Management from the Business University of Costa Rica. She has also served as Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Head of Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, and Coordinator of Apprenticeship and Access Programmes of the University.
Their appointments take effect from October 7 and October 8, 2024, respectively. The Registrar noted that the Council commended the two professors for their scholarly achievements, noting that their publications meet the acceptable standards of reputable universities globally.
“The University Council congratulates Prof. Atatsi and Prof. Obinnim on attaining this feat as the first female Associate Professors the University has produced,” the statement added.
