Ho Kpodzi Girls Make 3 out of 3 in Cricket League

Ho Kpodzi Basic Girls cricket team have made 3 victories of their 3 matches played in the ongoing Volta Cricket U-12 School’s League.

The girls who had exhibited high level of hard work on the field since week 1, saw off a challenge from Ho Fiave EP in the first of the two girls’ matches played at the Mawuli School park instead of the usual venue (Ho Sports Stadium) due to a booked activity last Saturday.

The week 5 fixture had Ho Kpodzi score 86 runs for 4 wickets in 15 overs after winning toss and electing to bat first.  Ho Fiave EP did their best in the second innings but could only manage 49 runs, for 3 wickets, thereby allowing Ho Kpodzi win by 37 runs. Ho Kpodzi, with the win returned to the top of the girls table with 6 points, pushing United MA to second position with 4 points. Ho Kpodzi Girls remains the only unbeaten team after 3 matches, as United and Housing are unbeaten in 2 matches.

Anglican boys however lived up to the expectation, coming back strongly from a painful defeat by Ho Kpodzi in week 3 to beat Housing. Anglican have successfully leapfrogged Mawuli to 2nd place on the league log after a roller-coaster victory over Housing MA. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Anglican scored 113 runs, for 3 wickets in 15 overs and limited Housing to score 56 runs for 4 wickets. Anglican had moved to top of the boy’s league table from 3rd position with 4 points and with an NRR of 3.05.

Fiave EP Boys lifted themselves from 7th position to 3rd with 4 points, after a glorious win against Ho Kpodzi. Ho Kpodzi, who had disciplined Anglican in week 3 met their match as they were limited to 62 runs for 6 wickets in the second innings after winning toss and electing to field. Fiave EP won the game by 25 runs as they scored 87 runs for 8 wickets.

At the end of the day, all four teams went home with at least 2 points in either the boys or the girls league.

Next week fixtures will see Bankoe R.C. Girls battle an ever enterprising MA United, while Mawuli meet up with Heve, at the Ho Sports Stadium.
