The Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency, Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu, and the Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have separately condemned the vandalism at the constituency party office in Ho on Tuesday night.
The vandalism, allegedly carried out by some party supporters, resulted in the ransacking of the party office and the burning of furniture and other office equipment. This was reportedly a protest against the non-inclusion of the constituency in President Mahama’s recent ministerial nominations.
The MP described the incident as “unacceptable and not reflective of the values and principles of the people of Ho Central and the NDC as a whole” in a press statement. He urged the police to conduct thorough investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He further pledged his commitment to peace, unity, and constructive engagement, and urged the constituents to express their views through peaceful and respectful means.
The Regional NDC party also condemned the vandalism, emphasizing its commitment to democracy, discipline, and constructive dialogue.
“Such acts of lawlessness and violence are alien to the values and principles of the NDC. We urge our supporters to uphold the values of peace, unity, and constructive engagement,” said the Regional Chairman, Mawutor Agbavitor.
Both Hon. Kpotosu and the Regional NDC stressed the importance of expressing grievances peacefully and respectfully.
