The Asogli State Council has strongly condemned alleged recent comments made by Mr. Koku Anyidoho, deemed baseless and reckless insinuations against the Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV.
According to a statement issued by the council, Anyidoho’s comments, captured in a widely circulated video, targeted Togbe Afede XIV concerning the current state of the Ho Airport. The council described Anyidoho’s comments as “divisive and infantile political antics” and advised him to cease involving the Agbogbomefia in his political activities.
The statement clarified that Togbe Afede XIV’s interest in the construction of the Ho Airport reflects his broader interest in the developmental issues of the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole. It also revealed that the Agbogbomefia, through his company, paid $32,445 to the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) as a 30% deposit for land allocation at the Ho Airport, for the purposes of establishing a Pilot Training School and an Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility, but the GACL has yet to fulfill its promise.
The council emphasized that Mr. Anyidoho’s insinuations against Togbe Afede XIV are baseless, irresponsible, and offensive. It also noted that the Agbogbomefia has consistently demonstrated his love for the Volta Region and Ghana through numerous business ventures that contribute significantly to national development.
The Council further directed Mr. Anyidoho to seek answers from the current administration over the neglect of the Ho Airport, rather than involving the Agbogbomefia in his political propaganda.
Mr. Anyidoho, a former deputy General Secretary of the NDC, has been on a collision course against his party after losing the General Secretary bid at the party’s 2018 elections. He has since been using his Atta-Mills Institute to flirt with the governing NPP.
