The Akatsi Police Command has launched an investigation into a gruesome murder of two siblings in their home last Thursday evening.
The victims, a 78-year old Dela Kofi Sedor and his younger sister, a 73-year old Ami Sedor were butchered to death by an unknown person in their home at Xavi-Dziehe in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
Akatsi District Police Commander, Supt Samuel Lartey Lawson who confirmed the incident to Voltaonlinegh.com said, his outfit had begun investigations to apprehend the perpetrator of such heinous crime.
According to him, he suspected that the two acts of murder were committed by one person, explaining, it was possible that the sister (disabled in one leg) saw the murderer killing her brother and attempted shouting while running away and ended up suffering the same fate as the brother.
Supt Lawson in narrating the incident said, the Police received a call minutes after the crime occurred at about 6:20pm from Chief of the area, Togbe Klutse alerting them of the murder.
He continued to say that the Police got to the scene and “found the bodies in a two-bedroom house. Victim, Dela Sedor was seated in a blue plastic chair with almost a severed head” while the body of Ami was found “lying down in the compound with multiple cutlass wounds on the head.”
He noted that although the victims’ house was surrounded by other houses, the neighbours claimed they never heard any unusual noise from the house.
The District Commander also noted that family of the deceased claimed they were not aware of any rift between them and any one in the community.
Mr Lawson in expressing the Command’s resolve to apprehend the murderer, advised the public to place their first calls in such situations to the Police before doing so to media houses as was the case in the current incident, so as not to give room to perpetrators to get away.
Meanwhile, the bodies have since been deposited at the St Paul’s Hospital, Akatsi pending autposy.
